Curb Appeal

The very first impression potential buyers get of your home is from the moment they drive up in front of it.  If the exterior of the home is in poor repair and the grounds are poorly maintained, buyers may well assume that the same will apply to the interior and possibly elect to move on without even entering the home!

Curb Appeal Checklist

Inspect the outside grounds.  Remove any building materials or other debris from the property.  Clean and store garbage cans in the garage.

Check the home from the roof line down

  • Is the roof free and clear from obstructions and moss?
  • Are the gutters in good repair and clear?
  • Are the windows clean and free from obstructions such as overgrown shrubbery?
  • Are trees, plants and shrubbery neatly pruned?
  • Is the mailbox in good repair?
  • Are driveway and walkways clear and in good repair?

Inspect the condition of the exterior paint or siding

  • Does siding need power washing or repairs?
  • Are repairs or touch-up paint needed on trim?
  • Is the garage door in good repair?
  • Is the front door in good repair and welcoming?

Do flower beds need attention?

  • Are plants neatly pruned?
  • Are beds free of weeds and freshly mulched?
  • Consider adding some color by planting new flowers.

Is lawn neatly groomed?

  • Is the lawn free from weeds?
  • Has the grass been mowed and edged and clippings removed?
  • A fresh watering right before showings is recommended.
